The Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí Carried out the 1st Tutoring Meeting of the Spring 2022 Semester

On Saturday, February 12th, the Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí (UPSLP) held the first virtual meeting for tutors of the Spring 2022 semester. It was attended by Francisco Javier Delgado Rojas, Rector of the UPSLP; Dr. Francisco Rafael Rostro Contreras, Academic Vice-Rector; Dr. Luis Tomás Macías Rodríguez and Juana María Reyna, from the Tutoring Area; coordinators of the different academic departments and areas as well as full-time and part-time faculty.

The purpose of the meeting was to plan the first tutoring meeting with students and presented information from the analysis of the results obtained in the tutoring process of the Fall 2021 school period. It also included an analysis of the challenges and perspectives of the UPSLP with respect to the teaching-learning process as well as the hybrid way of working and successful experiences for the attention of our students.

Francisco Javier Delgado welcomed the teachers, congratulating and thanking the effort made to serve students virtually and for their participation in the training spaces organized by the UPSLP to improve skills and competencies in Information and Communication Technologies, and for taking on the commitment to the hybrid mode, which required adaptation to the new classroom conditions. He emphasized that the circumstances related to the restart of on-campus activities will be evaluated along with continuing of public health measures that facilitate and propitiate conditions focused on the health of the university community. He concluded by reiterating that the work of the university community contributes to the academic development of students so that their personal and professional life project is successful.

For his part, Dr. Francisco Rafael Rostro presented an analysis of the areas of opportunity and the challenges that have been presented based on the indicators on academic performance. He presented the results of the General Examinations for the Graduation of Bachelor’s Degree (EGEL) and the Institutional Teaching Evaluation completed during the Fall 2021 semester, highlighting the recognition from students of the teaching and tutoring work.

At the close of the meeting, the teachers most highly evaluated in the field of teaching were recognized in areas such as organization, quality of their teaching, communication, student learning and distance educational activities and, in the category of tutoring, teachers were recognized in the criteria of skills, personalized attention, orientation and their impact as a tutor.
