The Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí Welcomes Class of 2026

The Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí (UPSLP) in conjunction with the Department of School Services, the Academic Departments, and the Department of Communication and Promotion, carried out the Orientation Course for new students who make up the class of 2022-2026, in face-to-face mode, from August 3rd to 5th and for parents and guardians, on Friday, August 5th, in distance mode.

The objective of the orientation course is to welcome new students, provide them with guidance on the services and academic support offered by the university as well as to introduce them to the technological and teaching-learning tools that will allow them to get involved in university life.

During the course, the young people met with their department chair and the professors of the department that they have chosen. They learned the philosophy of the UPSLP as well as important information about the academic activities, the certification program, and the laboratories. They also carried out integration activities in which they had the opportunity to hang out and meet their new classmates.

For the third day, the institutional event was held with the attendance of Francisco Javier Delgado Rojas, Rector of the UPSLP; Dr. Francisco Rafael Rostro Contreras, Academic Vice-Rector; Igor León O’Farrill, Director of Administration and Finance; Laura Medina Barboza, Director of School Services and Linkage; as well as department chairs and faculty of the departments of Engineering in Telematics -Networks and Telecommunications-, Engineering in Information Technologies, Engineering in Manufacturing Technologies, Engineering in Systems and Industrial Technologies, Business Studies and International Marketing; and the department chairs of the Departments of Mathematics and General Studies.

In his speech, Francisco Javier Delgado Rojas, Rector of the UPSLP, welcomed the students by emphasizing that they are the center and the raison d’être of the university. He expressed his appreciation to young people for the decision to advance in their training towards the achievement of a professional career. He assured that the UPSLP has as its main interest the development of their competences as well as the acquisition of knowledge, skills, aptitudes, and values that will be very useful in the future in the workplace. He urged them to continue taking care of their health, that of their families and that of the university community by complying with and adhering to health measures in addition to starting their career with determination, enthusiasm, and dedication, taking advantage of the training opportunities offered by the UPSLP.

For his part, Dr. Francisco Rafael Rostro Contreras explained the academic model of the University, and Laura Medina Barboza detailed the regulations of the institution.

The Orientation Course for parents and guardians was held on Friday afternoon, in which they were introduced to the model and academic criteria of the UPSLP. In his message, the Rector thanked the trust placed in the UPSLP and extended a congratulation and recognition to their educational work as parents who have helped to get their daughters and sons to start their professional training. He emphasized that the UPSLP has high academic standards that have made possible high employability and successful professional development. He shared that in their pursuit of their goals, students have the support of teachers, career coordinators and the entire team that collaborates, directly and indirectly, in their training. Finally, he invited parents to motivate their children to start their professional project with determination and to be consistent in their studies.
