Dr. Mario Alberto Martínez Rojas, Rector of the Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí (UPSLP), received the representatives of the German company FESTO: Aida Benavides, Didactics Manager; Francisco Fonseca, Zone Coordinator; and Sergio Moreno, Manager of the Training Area and FACT Certification Leader, who presented the recognition of recertification of the FACT Center (Festo Authorized Center Training) GOLD category. On behalf of the UPSLP, it was attended by Dr. Martha Angélica de la Rosa Hernández, Head of the Office of the Academic Vice-Rectory, and Dr. Margarito Martínez Cruz, Head of the Department of Engineering in Manufacturing Technologies (ITMA).

The FACT Center is part of the Advanced Manufacturing Center and is a reference in training and certification for professors and students of Engineering in Manufacturing Technologies.  It is an international program that allows the UPSLP to be part of the exclusive network of certified centers, in addition to providing added value to provide training up to world standards in industrial automation technologies. It is made up of the laboratories of Pneumatics and Electropneumatics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Sensors, Industrial Robotics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing i-CIM, Hydraulics and Electrohydraulics, and AFB (Agro Food & Beverage).

Each semester, the Advanced Manufacturing Center serves more than 300 students, mainly from the Department of Engineering in Manufacturing Technologies, in its different laboratories, where they develop knowledge, skills and abilities in the use of different technologies of automation, metrology, universal machines and Computer Numerical Control (CNC). These competencies are demanded by the industrial environment in the state of San Luis Potosí, which is mostly manufacturing.

In this way, the ITMA program includes highly relevant training for professionals who can work in any company in the industrial sector such as automotive, metal-mechanical, plastics, among many others. For this, we have faculty trained and certified in the technologies, which, in turn, allows us to certify students.

Currently, ITMA graduates are working in state, national and international companies, occupying different positions in the chains of command including specialized technicians, supervisors, engineers, managers, and executives. They have the training that allows them to make decisions, innovate and improve production processes.
