In a joint effort between the government of the state of San Luis Potosí and the Secretariat of Public Education of the federal government, the Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí (UPSLP) opened its doors to Potosi youth on September 3rd, 2001. Since its foundation, this institution has been committed to facing the challenges of higher education, marking a trajectory of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

An Innovative Academic Model that Transforms Education

Since its inception, the UPSLP has stood out for its innovative academic model, which responds to the current challenges of higher education. This model includes a flexible curriculum, a highly qualified teaching staff, balance between theory and practice, emphasis on key areas such as mathematics, science and languages, and a strong humanistic background. With a focus on the integral development of the student and constant attention, through mentoring programs, health services and psychopedagogy, the UPSLP has ensured that its graduates are well prepared both professionally and personally.

Strategic Educational Programs for National Development

The UPSLP offers six degree programs that address strategic areas for the country’s economy and development. These programs include Industrial Systems and Technology Engineering, Information Technology Engineering, Telematics Engineering, Manufacturing Technology Engineering, Bachelor of Business Administration and Management, and Bachelor of International Marketing. These degree programs not only prepare students for the demands of the labor market but also contribute to the progress and growth of the state and the country as a whole.

Collaborating with Industry and Community

The UPSLP has established strong collaborative relationships with industry, the government sector and society at large. Through professional internships, residency projects, agreements and collaboration agreements, the institution guarantees the relevance of its programs and the practical application of research and innovation. The University-Business Training Program has provided unique learning and experience opportunities for students, due to the close link with more than 15 companies in the automotive, metal mechanic and food sectors.  It encourages students to complete exchanges and other types of programs in Japan, Germany, Thailand and the United States. In addition, it contributes to the design and operation of dual training models, specifically required by some companies, such as: the Floor Walkers program for BMW, the Seedbeds program for Midori Autoleather and the Engineering School for Valeo.

Excellence in International Certifications and Recognition

UPSLP prides itself on its commitment to excellence, reflected in its extraordinary list of certifications and recognitions. Through partnerships with leading companies such as Cisco, Oracle, FESTO and many more, the university has offered students the opportunity to earn certifications in a variety of specialist areas, boosting their employability and preparing them for today’s industry challenges. The University has been awarded quality awards and recognitions in different fields, reinforcing its commitment to high-level education.

Leadership and Commitment of the University Community

The UPSLP has achieved its success thanks to the commitment of its university community, composed of more than 6,000 students, 308 teachers and 107 administrative collaborators. The leadership of Dr. Mario Alberto Martínez Rojas as the new Rector is a testament to the ongoing commitment to educational excellence and service to society.

Looking to the Future

As the UPSLP celebrates its 22nd anniversary of service to society, it reaffirms its commitment to further advance education, technology and culture. With a vision of comprehensive training, academic excellence, and collaboration with industry, UPSLP is ready to face the challenges and opportunities that the future holds, contributing to the development of San Luis Potosí and all of Mexico.
