ACADEMIC MODEL

 

Overview

The Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí promotes a flexible academic model based on innovations in the area of academic development and engagement with social and productive environments. It has the following characteristics:

  • Relevant academic programs that are focused on current and future needs and that incorporate the development of science and technology.

  • Nine-semester bachelor’s degrees that offer multiple graduation points, such as an associate degree upon completion of the fourth semester and a technical bachelor’s degree after the sixth semester.

  • Academic policies that allow for multiple entry points that facilitate the transfer in of graduates of technological universities and that recognize course work done in other higher educational programs.

  • Academic plans and programs in accordance with the standards and criteria of the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES) and other accrediting bodies.

  • Academic plans and programs that are based on academic and professional competences, that ensure a balance between theory and practice, and that promote external certification.

 

  • Academic plans and programs that strengthen the mastery of math, science, information technology, English, and abilities related to analysis, reasoning and independent learning.

  • Continuous assessment and updating of academic plans and programs.

  • Individualized tutoring systems throughout a student’s academic career to strengthen the development process and to improve academic performance.

  • Teaching processes focused on knowledge acquisition.

  • Modern academic equipment that meets the specialized needs of all academic programs.
