In the career of Engineering in Telematics, students are prepared in three major areas of knowledge that make up the career and which are:

a)      Las redes de telecomunicaciones, en dicha área del conocimiento se incluyen los temas que tienen que ver con los sistemas de telecomunicaciones de la actualidad, como lo son las redes de área local, las redes de cobertura amplía, las redes convergentes de voz, datos y video, las redes de telefonía celular, los sistemas de microondas terrestres y vía satélite, así como los estándares para instalar la infraestructura de cableado estructurado.

b)      Las tecnologías de la información, que es el conjunto de aplicaciones basadas en software y equipos informáticos que hacen uso de las redes de telecomunicaciones para la transmisión y ejecución de las mismas; entre un sinnúmero de aplicaciones  encontramos: la programación web, el diseño de bases de datos y de conocimientos, aplicaciones de voz y video, programación para dispositivos móviles y para el posicionamiento de vehículos.

c)       Los sistemas embebidos, es un área del conocimiento en constante desarrollo industrial y se refiere a sistemas electrónicos que incluyen una micro-computadora, entradas y salidas estándares, conectividad y software. Esta micro-computadora puede adaptarse a casi cualquier tipo de aplicación, siendo su principal ventaja la movilidad y la conectividad; haciendo realidad el concepto de internet de las cosas. Los sistemas embebidos pueden obtener, procesar, transmitir y recibir información de diferentes fuentes incluyendo sensores y dispositivos típicos de entrada/salida. Las aplicaciones en este sector son ilimitadas, por ejemplo, el sector automotriz, los servicios de salud, la automatización de líneas de producción, diversión, comercio, ciudades inteligentes y educación.

 The educational program of Engineering in Telematics, is divided into three academic training cycles, which allow the student to opt for the title of Associate Professional in the fourth semester, the Technical Bachelor in the sixth semester and the degree of Engineer in Telematics at the conclusion of the program of studies in its entirety.

 A telematics engineer has a set of skills and abilities to manage and direct projects in the areas of knowledge that comprise the career, mainly in the sectors of telecommunications and information technology.

 The telematics engineering students have the opportunity to complement the activities of their daily classes by making use of specialized laboratories in the areas of telecommunications, structured cabling, computer security, robotics and the development of specialized software.

 The students of the degree in Telematics Engineering have the possibility to participate in a large number of academic activities, such as visits to companies in the sector, in applied research projects, attendance at conferences and student exchanges with other universities. Visión del Programa Educativo

La UPSLP y su programa educativo de Ingeniería en Telemática entregan a la sociedad alumnos formados con los más altos estándares profesionales.

  • Egresados que tienen en su haber competencias pertinentes a las necesidades de su entorno, y son reconocidos en el ámbito laboral por su alto desempeño y calidad personal;
  • Un porcentaje significativo de ellos realiza estudios de posgrado en el país o en el extranjero.
  • Contarán con certificaciones de importancia en el área, actuales y con reconocimiento internacional.
  • Estarán certificados en el dominio del idioma inglés por el British Council.
  • Tendrán experiencia práctica adquirida en los laboratorios, en el estudio de casos y en su estancia profesional y,
  • Serán hábiles en el manejo de las nuevas tecnologías y reconocerán el proceso de aprendizaje como una necesidad permanente.
  • Los egresados tendrán una estrecha relación con la Universidad a través de cursos, diplomados, especialidades y posgrado.

El PE de Ingeniería en Telemática tendrá una planta académica consolidada basada en los más altos estándares.

  • El 78% de los PTC tendrán el reconocimiento al Perfil PROMEP, el 89% serán doctores y el 44% de ellos pertenecerá al SNI.
  • Mantendrán una metodología de trabajo colegiado y participarán activamente en cuerpos académicos que participan en redes de investigación nacionales e  internacionales.
  • Los proyectos serán financiados por Instituciones públicas y privadas, permitiendo obtener recursos adicionales.
  • El PE estará evaluado por CIEES.
  • Estará comprometido con la rendición de cuentas respecto de su calidad y de los ingresos federales, estatales y adicionales que obtiene.

ProPE 2016-2017

Los Objetivos del Plan de Estudios de la Ingeniería en Telemática que ofrece la Universidad Politécnica de San Luis Potosí, enfatizan cinco aspectos importantes en la formación del Ingeniero, que le confieren una sólida preparación para desempeñarse exitosamente en el mundo laboral:

1) Capacidad de crear e identificar soluciones para el transporte de información digital (sistemas de comunicación o redes);

2) Uso y desarrollo de redes para dispositivos fijos o móviles;

3) Aplicación de métodos de investigación para identificar problemas y desarrollar soluciones de manera independiente;

4) El dominio del idioma inglés; y

5) La adquisición de bases teóricas para continuar con estudios de postgrado.

El programa educativo de Ingeniería en Telemática, se divide en tres ciclos de formación académica, los cuales permiten al estudiante poder optar por por el título de Profesional Asociado en el cuarto semestre, el de Licenciado Técnica en el sexto semestre y el grado de Ingeniero en Telemática al concluir el programa de estudios en su totalidad.

Contributions or achievements:

  • Development of a laboratory for applied programming, application of the use of new technologies in the teaching of programming in 2009.
  • Project coordinator "Project for the provision of services for diagnosis, training and evaluation for certification purposes, educational actors and training leaders in the competence standard EC0121" development of learning projects integrating the use of information technologies and communication ", as well as the training of administrators" for SEGE, with the training of 2455 basic education teachers, 71 leaders and 8 administrators, the CONOCER Competency Certification Center was implemented; project that started in 2011 and concluded in 2015.
  • Project coordinator "Project for the provision of services for the monitoring, intervention and evaluation of the schools incorporated into the digital skills program for all in the technological and operational component". Dr. Juan Antonio Cabrera Rico

Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Center for Scientific Research and Education of Ensenada (CICESE). Doctor in economic and administrative sciences from the Institute for Administration and Organization (ORGAZS) of Warsaw, Poland.

–       Innovación, transferencia de tecnología y propiedad intelectual para el sector de las tecnologías de la información y las telecomunicaciones.

 Juan Antonio Cabrera Rico is currently an academic advisor to the Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí, serving as a full-time research professor in the fields of Engineering in Information Technology and Telematics Engineering, offering courses in: business development, e-commerce, microwaves and satellites, high speed networks, telematic systems, ITIL, telecommunications legislation among others; Juan Antonio is a consultant specialized in telecommunications, in innovation in information technologies and electronic commerce and has been developing multiple projects for different economic sectors in Mexico such as the automotive, services, chemistry, aerospace, metalworking and other industries. Juan Antonio has a vast experience in detecting and implementing technologies to make the business processes of the companies more efficient; and also to deploy communication services in rural areas where telecommunications services are inaccessible.

Juan Antonio is a Telecommunications Expert in the specialty of special systems endorsed by the Federal Telecommunications Institute of Mexico.

Juan Antonio has been academic coordinator and research professor of postgraduate studies in Computer Science and Telecommunications Administration at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) Guadalajara campus, Jalisco. Juan Antonio has been academic coordinator of the e-commerce diploma at the same institution and associate professor at the engineering school at ITESO.

Juan Antonio has participated as guest lecturer in different national and international conferences and has been an active member of the IEEE in the area of telecommunications and computer science and has written different articles for journals of information technology, telecommunications and business.

Juan Antonio has been a guest researcher for multiple Universities and Institutions to participate as a lecturer, academic and business projects for countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Ecuador and Panama, the United States of America, Canada, Bulgaria and Poland.

Juan Antonio has published different research articles in relation to telecommunications, information technologies and innovation; and is the author of the book Innovations to reduce the digital divide in Latin America.

Dr.  Modar Shbat graduated from Damascus University, Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering as an electronics engineer in 2003. In 2005, he obtained a post graduate diploma in communications engineering from Damascus University. He received the master degree (M.Sc) in information and communications engineering (IT technology program, advanced radio technology lab) from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)/ South Korea in 2008. He obtained his PhD degree in electronics engineering from Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea (signal processing lab SPL) in February 2014.

His scientific work and research accomplishments are published in peer reviewed journals and presented in international conferences.

Contributions or achievements

Master Liliana Gámez Zavala is a Computer Engineer (UASLP). He has a Master's Degree in Information Technology (UNID).

He joined the UPSLP in 2008. He is currently a professor with Project assignment and is part of the ITQ group for Cisco at the National and International Level. He is a certified auditor for ISO 9001 and has been accredited in different certifications in the IT area such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Networking Associate), CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician), MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate), MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist), HP , COMTPIA A +, among others.

It has the preparation for the use of basic and specialized software, ranging from design to advanced ERP systems such as SAP B1; as well as software and tools for the development in desktop and Web environments.

He has almost 18 years of experience as a professional working for companies in different areas of Information Technology, and with 16 years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

His areas of interest are closely related to computer technology, networks and security. He has participated in several presentations at a national and international level for Latin America and the Caribbean related to the Cisco Networking Academy Program; He has published articles at the national level.

Achievements and Distinctions

  • She won awards, recognitions and distinctions throughout her educational and professional career, mainly at UVM, highlighting her as one of the best employees and professionals in the IT area, achieving the gold lynx, which is the highest award awards to the most outstanding collaborators in this company for which he worked for 9 years.
  • He also obtained recognition as ITQ, Instructor Trainner Qualification, in Latin America and the Caribbean, which allows him to train new professors in different areas of IT within the CNAP program (Cisco Networking Academy Program).
  • He has been involved in the preparation of students for participation in the NETRIDERS competitions, obtaining important places at the Mexico level, and among the 10 best in Latin America and the Caribbean, in their different issues since 2010.
  • He has participated in different face-to-face and online forums of the Cisco Networking Academy program at Local, National and International level; sharing teaching strategies and best practices; Receiving recognition of academic excellence and commitment to the program for more than 10 years.

Graduation profile

The Telematics Engineer combines the knowledge and skills acquired in the fields of telecommunications and computing, to analyze, design, develop and implement solutions that allow the transmission, processing, storage and use of the information handled in the operation and administration economic and efficient telematic networks, as well as their maintenance and updating of existing technology.

Objetivos particulares del PE definidos en el Plan de Desarrollo y Mejora Continua 

  1. Mantener actualizado el PE.
  1. Fortalecer el programa de certificaciones avanzadas.
  2. Fortalecer el equipamiento de laboratorios especializados.
  3. Mantener una planta docente acorde al número total de alumnos del PE.
  4. Fortalecer la oficina de Vinculación y Transferencia de Conocimiento.
  5. Fortalecer la cooperación académica nacional e internacional.
  6. Promover la actualización del personal docente en nuevos conocimientos y tecnologías emergentes.
  7. Mantener un programa específico a nivel institucional para generar una cultura de educación ambiental.
  8. Establecer un programa continuo de mejora en la calidad del PE.
  9. Mantener un alto porcentaje de acreditación (arriba del 90%) del examen EGEL.
